Becoming

Becoming

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Becoming

pretty little arrival

wrapped in baggie clothes

Zip Lock ties

binding conscience

a possible anyone

                                                   becomes

a discarded someone

the idea of abandonment or being abandon either help or destroy one's self esteem

that is absolutely true...thank you, sette,

The theme of abandonment seems to stand out here. It almost makes me think of the old stories of infants being left on the doorsteps of people the parents thought could better care for the child. Perhaps the abandoner is the one whose conscience is bound by the zip lock ties.

Something led to a dissapointment here. A restriction, a thought, perhaps conscience. A pretty package had to be discarded. Who knows what promising gift it carried?

Yes. We never know till we have opened it properly.
You're most welcome, dear Jacob.
Conscience to me seems the key to the making or breaking of a deal, especially in prospective relationships.

You are welcome dear sir.
Whether infant or senior, we often disregard those who do not appear will be of any use to us
or, whom we've hastily decided, have too little to offer.
Of course, when that same judgement falls upon us...
Outstanding poem, Jacob.

thank you for your kind and understanding words, Jimmy,

I'm pro life and this one reflects what I believe in. Hard to discard a small, precious gift for selfish reasons. God's wrath is on the horizon and we see it. Control and adoption are better solutions that that. Excellent sir.

You are welcome sir Jacob.
I can glean the abandoned baby analogy within this seven line punch of a poem but I also saw abandoned refugee children adrift and alone because of the sins men visit continually upon one another.

This reminds me of how abruptly we can change how we perceive other people and how squirrelly our perceptions are (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

thank you, Cyprian,

Discarded babies, discarded children, all children deserve a loving family. More adoptions needed. It is so hard to adopt, so easy to make a baby. There is a mismatch. Subject close to my heart Jacob.
