dear Jacob... the River has many secrets that go down River... We had a Riverboat at City Dock in Fredericksburg, Virginia fo years. It routinely would take us on a Cruise close to George Washington’s Home on the Rappahannock River. Then a group of Conservationists disturbed the Dam that kept the flow of the Ocean at Bay. Within in a short time the Riverboat was located in a better place to
“Dock” and has never passed our way again. Aging can be like that.. disrupting the ebb and flow of Life as we know it. truly, Pat

George Washington was six years old when given a “Hatchet” at Ferry Farm (his childhood home). He cut down Weeds in his Mothers garden and inadvertently cut down a young Cherry 🍒 tree. When his Father asked him if he cut down the Cherry tree, young George said— “I cannot tell a lie.. Tes, I did”. And so the legend reminds us all to not lie. I found nothing about the Stump of the Cherry tree George cut down. However, we have two young Cherry trees in our Backyard. We tend to them with netting to protect the Berries that have already formed after three years of planting them.. only about 15 miles from Ferry Farm. Our hatchets are hidden when grandchildren arrive fir a Visit. Looking forward to Cherry 🍒 tarts and pies.
