Pregnant Pauses and Silent Proclamations

Pregnant Pauses and Silent Proclamations

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Pregnant Pauses and Silent Proclamations

i am rich in my

poverty,

saving heart's pennies

for the rainy day

when your clouded eyes

will cry for me

and i, for investing in you

will grow a womb of love

enough to buy

the moon

and gift wrap it

in azure blue

as it inevitably

hides where the trees

grow poor in their

wealth

and each leaf

has the head of a president

on one side

and a picture of us

on the other.---

I suppose the economic gap in the US is a popular topic these days...the working class has really taken a stance by walking off of low paying jobs or jobs with hazardous work conditions...makes you wonder where we are heading.
