A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Adult

I'm growing up now

it's a feint procedure

like ducking right hooks

from an inconsiderate champion

who left me sitting in my corner

imagining a next round

but all I got

was

served a few drinks

and a summons

that the bar was closing

and I was way past my prime.

dear Jacob... I may be a Dreamer, but I think your Prime can be any Time along the Way. But if you mean "Prime Beef" that is another sort of a Hunk of a Guy. It takes a lot of Humor to get through the phases of Life.

I agree, and mine has saved me numerous times.
thank you, Pat,

Yep, that’s about right. I didn’t get a drink though but for me when you’re more grown up than your parents by the time you are ten they should leave the bottle and give them the summons and past prime, when is that and by whose standards? This is a great piece of writing, I feel beat up
