Great Expectations (a poet's version)

Great Expectations (a poet's version)

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Great Expectations (a poet's version)

lost in

a heart's labyrinth

tunnels of wisdom

the fire of love's

smoldering arms surrounding

there are passages

appearing as eyes bluing

twisted wonders,

I love you until I am lost

in your aura

can't find my way out

satisfied

to drown in your presence

the walls are amazing

reflecting in your flames

they start to shed appearances

and perceptions,

I will die

being

the me I always knew I was.

thank you for your kind words, Ken,

Every one who has high expectations on themselves equally expect the same on their love interest hence they are doomed when expectations are not met And some are so in love it doesn't matter for they are whole and just want to share and have no epectations placed upon them to fill some
void.

Oh this romantic write is amazing and a bit painful at the end but that’s how it works most of the time. I hope I don’t die knowing the me I always knew, just the thought is killing me, relatable and brilliant j.

One of the few books that I have read( was forced to read as a 13 year old)
I get the Miss Haversham connection, her broken hearted wasted years and death by fire, if I remember correctly.
Good morning Jacob, Hope you are well

That one the incurable romantics call a soulmate...
They see only the best of us and challenge us to find it within ourselves. The mirror to our hearts.
This does seem like the perfect poem for Valentine's Day. Well written.
