a pick in my pocket of keepsakes

a pick in my pocket of keepsakes

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

a pick in my pocket of keepsakes

counsel on a six-string

melodic sounds

a therapist whispers

a song,

her brown eyes gamble

I win,

she departs life's venue

no encore

except in my imagination

her fingers still curl the chords

in reliant repose.

I think this poem effectively conveys a sense of longing, memory, and the enduring power of music and personal connections.

Very well written Jacob

A lasting impression on a poet’s heart…We will all become keepsakes, one day…perhaps bookmarks in someone’s memories. This poem is so heartfelt and touching.

So clever how you weave these threads Jacob - as if the musical notes are still hanging in the air. Excellent ✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️

Amazes me how first the man then the poet enjoys thoughts of whatever he is thinking about.
Super sweet and sensual.. possibly?

'no encore

I really must read and study more of that fine lady's work. I will, jacob
It is amazing the things that we select as keepsakes. One has to wonder what chod was struck that it made it so worth keeping.
Jacob, this is very thought-provoking.
Take care - Dave

first thing my mind raced to: what kind of therapist? how much a session? by the hour or the act? the cleverness of this poem is a pleasure to read. As always J, something, much to take away from your work

Thank you for your kind review, Ken,

dear Jacob... a therapist is allowed to whisper... we help each other whether it is a therapist or a friend. It is difficult to be Professional and not Personal. Even with a friend we have to be careful not to hurt their feelings. Romantic feelings are a Natural occurrence.as I have observed.
Enjoy life as a scented Flower. tenderly, Pat

This isn't usually what therapists do, sing a song.....however I have heard of therapists and patients having a relationship...so whoever it is, you loved the song and though she is no longer around, the song and maybe her remain in your memory...
Lovely,
Warmly, B

I get the impression this was more than a simple therapy session. The therapist whispers a song as her brown eyes gamble, then she departs life's venue. I never had a therapist make a play for me, but if that indeed is what happened, treasure the memory.

I have not either....but friends can be therapists who are actually better than real therapists.
