a stale toast

a stale toast

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

a stale toast

pleasure's intoxication

the bottle empties

and love sobers up

to find dissonance

between those who imbibe

they ponder a refill

or a new lover

hide their feelings in the cupboard

till then.

A distinct lack of harmony between those who imbibed here. This doesn’t bode well for the future me thinks. The title says it all. Call it a day comes to mind. A mismatch.
