this time last week,

it was the week before

and before that

I was not yet conceived

not even an idea

a rumor

 

I wrote words on her soul

from the womb

to the tomb

 

the connection faded

the delivery a hoax

Mama cried

she read one of my poems

 

and hesitated.

How hurtful it can be if we think we are not living up to expectations of our parents.

We aren’t clones of them. We have to find our own compass in life.

All those students who have sheltered under your wing before taking flight. Now that is something to be proud of.

Woah! The title and end line scream from the page Jacob and so very apt for the here and now with people taking risks they shouldn't need to take.
