Housing on Wheels

Housing on Wheels

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Housing on Wheels

gavel, grovel, gravel

heart

blacktop shines

the tar is liquidating funds

we are too poor to stand in grocery lines

we stand outside the store

begging for a handout

groveling in the gravel

the gavel pounded by the judge

who winces at our plight

finding our politicos guilty

and sentenced

to repave the roads to equality

everyone eats

everyone paves

and

everyone gets to drive on this road

hate is free

love is free

poverty is free

gas is a precious commodity

and there are coupons

at the checkout line

so grovel the gavel

to let us feel that gravel

under our wheels

the car has a heater

and in most cases,

it works.

Jacob,

This a very poignant, real to life the way is, or has been, for many of us here in America, the land of the broke-a*s free, and the home of the penniless brave ... Realy friggin' enjoyed this read!

Thank you, Thomas...

Interesting, relevant topic.
A young person down the way did build a house on wheels, on a used but road worthy construction trailer.
I thought it was a good way to get affordable accommodation, as did a number of others.
Apparently so many others that the B.C. government has now ruled against them, unfortunately causing a number of people some grief.
Just gotta get those tax dollars!
Have a jolly day.

thank you for your words, Dave,

There is a real squeeze on hard working people. It isn’t just the poor any more. Middle income families are really feeling the pinch with hikes in mortgage payments, fuel, energy and food. Someone is making a huge amount of money. The rich become richer while everyone else struggles or becomes destitute. Mo wonder crime goes up. A poem of our times j.

Thank you for your insightful words, Chris,

It’s ironic, the rich stay rich, the middle class are becoming poorer and the poor are just forgotten. When the cost of living becomes too high, crime increases, people become impatient, desperate, pushing and shoving, mental illnesses rise, domestic violence also rises or the while we are told by our Pollies that it’s ok our money is going into their pockets for the greater good. Then the Church says money is the root of all evil and then why do they ask for it. lol. Sorry got carried away on this one .

Yes, the church's get richer as well...all in the name of Jesus...where is compassion and balance in.. read more
I was thinking you were talking about those fancy motor homes that I see on the roads; they sell for over $100000.
But then I found more meanings.
Now, I hope we don't get into road rages; might cause wars on the Middle East. Lol
