A Mothers' Day tribute, lest we forget...

 

To all the Mothers around the world

Who loved, comforted and helped us grow,

We thank you.

As babies, you attended our every need,

As children, you rendered us your grace,

As teens, you tolerated our insolence

When we viewed you as intrusive.

As adults, we suddenly grew wise in vision,

Understanding your purpose

And protective stance.

In admiration, we reflect and recognize

How you continue to inspire our best

As we travel our paths in time and place.

Dear Mothers All, we often fail

To express our thanks,

Caught up in routines day to day.

With these words and overdue thoughts

We celebrate your love and support,

Asking most reverently

That you forgive the delay

In saying, thank you for everything,

For being you and always there.

Forgive our neglect,

You, who dwell forever in our hearts,

Your gentle warmth holding us close

In all we say and do.

As this day fades into memory,

Be assured where our sentiments lie.

Dear Mothers, they lie with you

On this, your special day

And all the days of the year ahead.

We love and honor you,

Lest we again unwittingly forget.

Very lovely tribute Eve, as one who just lost a mother this last year, I can say that I am thankful for all the time I spent with her and every tribute poem, I wrote and gave. She knew how special she was to us.

I know some people do not have close relationships with their mothers, but I was a lucky one who had one who lived for her kids. She was a great example. It's nice of you to put something out there for all mothers. It's funny but although I've been a mother for over 20 years, Mother's Day was always for Mom and my Mother-In-Law whom I also loved dearly.

I know - I have always experienced the same thing, never really identifying myself with this auspicious group of women...
