Protests for Garland

Protests for Garland

A Poem by Evyn Rubin
"

my response to reading the news this morning

"

Monday morning May 4, 2015,

I want to go back in a time machine

and do an intervention

step right in between

and call for restraint of violence

call upon all parties to maintain non-violence

to stand down from their threats

Pamela Geller chooses to use her precious freedom of speech

to generate war propaganda

She is already engaged in a war with Muslims

Do not follow her.

Elton Simpson chose to deal death, the two gunman chose to deal death

Do not follow them. Hold them accountable in their graves

for their attempted death dealing, their attempted murder and

and willingness to martyrdom

do not follow them

disengage from provocation and war

disengage from dealing death

disengage from dynamics of hatred

I want to go backward in time and argue with everyone involved

I am a responder but not a first responder. I may seem like a belated responder, rehashing.  But I want to be a prior responder, preventing.  I want to shout out and call for restraint, for disengagement from the habits of and paths to violence.   I want to be an educational prior responder, who speaks out along with other voices for peace and sanity,  for non-violence, for co-existence.

I want to be a preventitive prior responder among many such

because the work of the first responders is already too much

God, bless America and let God's blessings abound for all

Here's a link for a news commentator who with sparred with Pamela Geller over politics of caricaturing Mohammad, and called it provocative.

Below is another link with more information about the shooters than had been confirmed when I wrote my response.
