New Zealand Happened as Purim Approaches

New Zealand Happened as Purim Approaches

A Poem by Evyn Rubin
"

written after the attacks on the Al Noor mosque and the Linwood mosque

"

Their lives are gone

the peace is torn

I've heard my rabbi ask God to give us the strength

to work for peace God's most precious gift

Should we wait for this strength or just start the work

and hope the strength and skill will come

Assert humanitarian values

to bridge ultra-isms and assorted chasms

New Zealand happened as Purim approaches

our holiday to celebrate our good fortune once

When we escaped a plot against us

survivor guilt at Purim

Is that a strength

let harmful plots be foiled for all
