Just Some Thoughts

Just Some Thoughts

A Poem by Barbara Walker
"

A silly little poem, because life has been so serious lately

"
There isn't anything I wouldn't do,
for my lovely sister, Sue.
We were born of the same mother,
coming out one after the other.

From the moment of our birth,
we've been filled with  mischief and mirth.
We both possess a sarcastic wit,
sometimes not knowing when to quit.

We both have skin so very fair
and freckles on us, everywhere.
Her hair color is almost black,
while mine is the opposite of that.

One of us is taller than the other,
but we're both shorter than our brother.
We'd like to lose a pound,
but we just get more round.

We both have a mighty fine man
and we're their loving, appreciative fans,
because we had to kiss a lot of toads, you see,
so we feel lucky, as can be.

This is the end of my ditty
and i hope you find it witty.
Just some thoughts in my head,
that I put here, instead.

I'm touched a lot, I've two brothers, and they've never been really close to me, instead, I even hate my middle brother, haha... Thats why I feel so touched reading poms like this, it makes me kinda regret of how my relationship of the two brothers never get better...
But anyways, I like this a lot!

A very unique piece. The ending two lines really sell the piece.

This is very clever in a way that I can relate too... My sister and I are also one and the other yet always shorter than our baby brother....I must admit I'm the elder.
I enjoyed the sincere sister bond of your ditty and yes found it most fondly, touchingly witty. :)

Great theme of unity you have written about. I enjoyed how you described each other as almost one in the same, yet different. While it does not feel dramatic, it feels very free and lighthearted. The ryhme scheme in this particular poem adds a great deal to it, and it truly gives it that light and happy feel. It is very well done. I appreciated the simplicity of it! :)

do you know? It is so good to get something on this site that is not all doom and gloom...I have been here for just a few months writing mainly humorous verse, for kids mainly. It is good to come across a kindred spirit
