Bestie

Bestie

A Poem by Barbara Walker
"

when someone is more invested in a friendship and the other person ends the friendship

"
I lost my bestie, though I guess we weren't best friends, after all.
I wish I'd had a clue, I didn't see the signs.
I'm deaf and now, I guess, half blind.
Not many people can be a bestie, at least to people like me.
When you can't do all the fun things,it causes people to flee.
Maybe I expected too much, when I was feeling so low,
my heart is hurting, that's all I know.
Everyone has fair weather friends in their life and that's fine
but, don't pretend to be something you're not.
Someone could be counting on you, as their only life line.

I can't tell you how many times I've felt every word of this. In my experience, it's rare for BOTH sides of a friendship to have the same level of devotion. But still, we have to accept some responsibility in every situation we experience. I understand the need to call another person out, as you've done with sharp word slices (feels satisfying) . . . but in the end, we are usually more mad at ourselves for being hoodwinked when we ignored a deep-down tickle that everything wasn't balanced (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I had a friend, we were best friends for 7 years and in a sudden he didn't call me back, I still don't know why?
I could feel this pain through this poem. Nicely penned Barbara.
Best Wishes

I’m with Barley Girl I’m the same in this one
I’ve lost countless friends gfs that I thought were soul mates but apparently they didn’t think so too
Some left without a goodbye
Some were rude to me and ended the friend ship face to face
Some just disappeared never to be seen
It’s heartbreaking I know
It takes ages to get over
I hope you make new friends and can find her the one friend that stays
I never did but I’m 63 I sorta gave up after the last few years of losing them
Good poem liked it btw

When someone ends a friendship and you have no clue why it is so painful. There is no resolve... I have learned over my many years to just let it go or the pain it too hard to bear... Letting go takes quite a lot of time...as i of course think and wonder what happened...
but like with everything in life time does help heal.
First read of yours and I did like it very much.
Perhaps you might like reading one or two of mine.
Cry and Miles Apart...or even Innocence..
Not sure what you might like.

I looked because of your avatar.. and I'm glad I did.. the heart has no rules.. we come to care in spite of the challenges we may both have.. and sometimes it's even deeper when all we have are the words we share.. "hurt" is real no matter what..
