Smoking a day kills a life away

Smoking a day kills a life away

A Poem by Cerise
"

the prolonged pain from cigarettes and problems from its continuous usage

"

The dead would rather wish to be alive

Here you are giving it all away in vain

Ended up plotting your own death

What I ask you, will you ever gain?

One puff is all you need, to kill a creature

And boom, it becomes a bad deed

Can't you think for once, how it will harm?

The young, the old, it’s like a bad luck charm

Addicted you are and you might forever be

Are those memories so unbearable to see?

You want to forget better find another way

Solution is in front, so you had better stay

Cigarette is not the problem to your matter

The only thing it will ever do is kill and shatter

Think of those suffering because you are insane

Who cannot breathe, Who are in profound pain?

Lungs collapsed, back cut open

It sounds horrible to even be spoken

Stand up and fight diseases on your way

For humanity’s sake stop with this play......

AN INNOCENT CIGARETTE A DAY WILL  RUIN YOUR LIFE IN A HUGE WAY...

Author's Note

Cerise
Emphysema-is a long-term, progressive disease of the lungs caused by smoking...Each one of you can contribute in a huge way by not smoking...Every time you smoke your life decreases and I believe life is very precious to waste.

I wish this could be posted on every bar and in every public window possible. Very courageous of you to write this and thank you for standing up for those who are specifically allergic to cigarette smoke. It is absolutely heartless to smoke around a child, let alone other adults. It's bad enough that there is so much pollution in so many areas of the world that one can barely see the sky. It is a terrible addiction that yellows the teeth, the nails, discolors the skin, blackens the lungs, and destroys ones own breath. The worst part is, it reeks for miles and sticks to everything. I like the way you ask your questions, the boldness of it. Thank you so much for this poem, God bless you, and hope you may be free of smoke! Honestly I really feel for those who are addicted to cigarettes, who are unable to stop even though they wish they could. They are not bad people, they really do need help. It would be interesting to see a poem showing their perspective. Still thanks again for spreading the awareness!

She tried my father bought her a pack after three days. He thought she was going to kill us all.
well...i've been against smoking for years, but unfortunately it is a matter of choice...personally i think tobacco in it's natural form is probably no more or less dangerous then alcohol or pot or eating certain foods or anything of habit in life so long as done in moderations...but where's the fun in that? nice work with this poem and perhaps u will help soemone with yer words

I, guilty, thought for a moment, maybe my poem, My Addiction, had been your muse for this piece. That's not narcissistic, thinking it's all about me, that's the guilt of a smoker, wishing it wasn't about me.

Aww..Thankyou and am very glad to know that some of them have stopped smoking..:)
Mmm.. It sounded like a plea, a whispered, hopeful plea. I could feel it. Your rhyming pattern was enjoyable and made the poem easy and touching to read.
Very well done

Wow, bravo to you!! Whoop whoop! I enjoyed reading this and nodding my head to every single line. I agreed with everything you said. I do agree that smoking does harm our bodies and people don't understand the consquences behind it too. Yeah, it might calm them down and make them forget the world for the time being but soon they don't know they'll finally tell the world goodbye for good. My mother smoked for a few months when she met my father because her mother had died and it was too stressful for her to deal with. I honestly think drinking, drugs, or smoking doesn't help the pain of losing someone. To me, it makes it a lot worse. They wouldn't want you destroying and damaging your body! In the end, he said he wouldn't date her unless she didn't sotp smoking. Of course she stopped, and as me and my younger sister grew up slowly she told us the results of smoking. How it makes your lungs turn a charcoal black, smelly clothes, yellow teeth, nasty hair, wrinkled skin. It scared us to death! Haha. Great write and a powerful message spoken here! :D
