Hopeless

Perhaps,
a glimmer of hope resides
in the delicate balance
between numbness.
and the fragile
thread of hopelessness.

Farjana,

All that is needed for the continuance of keeping keeping on is that essence of the very words you have shared so beautifully above, most especially you words, "a glimmer of hope reside ..." ... For a glimmer of hope is all that is required to restoke the fires of inspiration, dedication, observation, dedication, and emancipation of the desires of the Human Heart, be it one person, a people, or a nation ... Truly enjoyable and most contemplatively meditative philosophical lines of fine Poetry ...

Give me numbness any day, because that is temporary and wears off. However, hopeless is not a place most would wish to visit. Always looking for a chink of light and hope. Very nicely conveyed chaity.

thank you for sharing your opinion on this.
Oh I loved this. Numbness….the feeling attributed to a happening that soon subsides and hopelessness being an emotion that for many can be quite debilitating. The fine line between the two can be felt but managing this proves difficult. It’s important to understand the difference between feelings and emotions to find the balance. This was great! Thank you

Alexander Pope wrote that "hope springs eternal in the human breast". Shakespeare and Steinbeck wrote about "the winter of our discontent". The flower children had the "summer of love" and the old children's nursery rhyme, Ring Around the Rosie, tells us that we all "fall down". All the seasons are covered in life and literature. We have our seasons of doubt and our seasons of courage; seasons of adversity and seasons of triumph. I think if we focus on any one season more than another we get a myopic view of what it is to be human. We can't live in the Spring of our youth but every year Spring returns with warm sunshine and flowers. Sometimes we just had to wait out the ice and snow. I enjoyed the read. Dare to dream and set your sights on the road ahead. It's okay to look back now and then but we can never plan the past, only learn from it.

excellent idea...I believe numbness is a momentary feeling, whereas hopelessness has little or no hope of moving on...and can be catastrophic... these is a balance between them, but for sure it is very delicate...
and can change at any time....Nicely penned

I see the point you're trying to make. But I move on when feeling hopeless. Fine balance is difficult for me.
