A Winter Wind

A Winter Wind

A Poem by Alex

Cold wind from the North
Blew in with the tide.
I wrapped my arms tightly around my chest
And walked along the shore
We used to walk together.
But Winter has settled in for good,
And our footprints in the sand
Have washed away.
I returned to the pier that late afternoon
To visit the ghosts I had come to rely on.
But after searching and searching,
I realized they had finally moved on.
And the odd thing is,
Without even knowing it,
So had I.
