Easy

Easy

A Story by Derrek Wesley Steven Gaspard
"

Very short muse

"

If life becomes easy will I be able to sincerely smile? More importantly will I care?

I don't like the word easy because that is how they label macaroni in a box. That shouldn't be the same word used to express an uncomplicated life.

I don't like the word "they" because it is too inclusive, capable of reaching the inanimate and imaginary. When speaking of them there should be some prefix or suffix that says 'them the friend' or 'they the enemy'.

English is so inadequate. I replace language with sighs. Words with complication.

Disgruntled, empathetic, focused. Resolve falls, pouring like concrete over me and I harden. Penetrating my own befuddlement with a largely over-animated grin.

Life isn't easy. Everything else works itself out.

Inside my head.
