On The Night Before My Final Dawn

On The Night Before My Final Dawn

A Poem by felioness
"

A sad tale of sorrow and the pain of losing a loved one.

"

on the night before my final dawn

i watched "Medium" and listened to "Sgt. Mackenzie's" song and

while the bagpipes played  i dreamed... for the first time in months

i dreamed

i saw your face on a mirrored lake

touching the surface it felt like silk

blue and satiny like where you were laid

in a  box of golden oak and brass on the outskirts of Owen's Break

it was as if looking through a looking glass that beckoned me to follow

on the cusp of dawn i replayed the song

it held me in a vicious grip

your name a wound upon my lips

yet i could not shed a single tear because

inside i was hollow

gazing into a mirror upon the wall

i saw my face was not my face at all

nearly blinded by this epiphany

i acknowledged sorrow was eclipsing me

and it was time to follow

into that silken state of blue

where both my heart and soul will search for you

while Mackenzie's piper plays our song

across the blushing mists of dawn
