The couch revisitedA Poem by JasonIn response to 'The curves of the couch' by Kara
Flashes
-of the crashes
In the den
Near the coffee table
As mother and I
Gather for tea
“A delicate brew”
She says with a sip
And she squints
As she wonders who
Has moved
The cushions
(Again)
My head still rings
With seductive screams
Of when the couch wore
Our sweat from the night before
She looks right through me
While putting down her cup
She scratches her head
And then stands up-
“Once again
I must remove
A stained couch
That the damn
Dog has ruined”
