Time To Go

Time To Go

A Poem by A Flawed Person
"

I wrote this after someone very close to me passed away. I just wanted to share this.

"

It’s kind of weird.

They’re there one day,

Then gone the next.

It’s an unexplainable feeling.

Shocking, at first,

Then, as if someone just came up to you,

And ripped part of your heart out.

It was his time to go, though.

There has to be some reason,

That he was taken from this cruel,

Twisted world.

The smallest things were the best.

The crust around the flat,

Cinnamon-y pancakes,

That only he can make.

The way he rubbed his almost bald head.

The sound of his voice calling us for breakfast.

How his arms felt when they wrapped around me,

Pulling me into a hug one last time

Goodbye, Nano.

I’ll miss you,

And I’ll love you forever.

First time you lose someone close to you, it knocks you for six, and it is difficult to comprehend, especially if you are young. When it happens again, you know you will be knocked for six. There won't be any surprises. I liked the simplicity in this tribute to Nano. I found your words very touching. Those little things about him, you mentioned, will stay with you. No one can take them away from you.

You are welcome
It is what it is, a sweet eulogy for a grandfather figure. A poem such as this is made worse by profundity. Grief is a simple thing and best expressed in a simple manner. Thanks for sharing.
