YOU FORGOT ME, BUT WHAT DID I EXPECT

YOU FORGOT ME, BUT WHAT DID I EXPECT

A Poem by flickering candle

you forgot me, but what did i expect, in a world as glamorous as yours

you're what my soul longed for

you forgot my face

too many faces in places

ive never seen before

at the end of the night, like cinderella i ran out the door

my clock had rung midnight

and i ran from what felt the most right

although i didnt have slippers

my face was enough to haunt his mind

my image was burned into his eyes

now i'm sitting on my kitchen floor

surrounded by pumpkins and mice

wishing to relive that night once more

and what had felt the most right

I liked this storyline. You gave a realistic ending to a old fairytale.
"my face was enough to haunt his mind
my image was burned into his eyes"
The above lines stood out and were my favorite. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
