WHAT I WROTE WHILE YOU WERE AWAY

and now i realize something that i never have

i will always love you

i will always miss the sweet sound of your voice

of the taste of the air when you are around

art will never mean the same to me 

because i'll think

 of you

and your eyes will stare at me 

and pierce through me every night i try 

to sleep

running my fingers across a counter

cleaning up spilled milk

getting ready for a party

will never feel the same 

because even a party where i'm smothered in people and skin 

and drunk men and w****s bump and shove past me

and the music is so loud my ears sting 

still feels horribly lonely without your presence

now i am left to taste empty bottles 

and get ready for no reason

and sit on the kitchen counter

and yell 

and spill things

because that's what i do 

now that you moved on

now that you're gone

i've got spilled milk to clean up

nothing tastes quite as glassy as empty bottles. you can really taste the glass.

the last line line is there as a purpose of portraying the emptiness of the person speaking, and their surroundings, even while expressing the poem, there is no one there to respond, and the speaker is left alone. to clean up after themselves, and their reckless, empty, lonely habits. the bottles represent one in the same thing. there are bottles, so many bottles, but they are empty, of what really matters, and when you are left with empty vessels, worthless reminders of your lacking, then you are left alone. actually, worse than alone, the bottles are like memories, once a person is gone, you are not quite alone, because you still have their memories. it would have been better to hit your head or something. thank you :)

There is a lot of sadness in this poem.
It hurts when someone you loved so much just simply goes away.... (it has happen to me a lot of times, maybe thats why I can't trust love anymore)
But anyways, I like the poem, great job.
