A Poem by Aliice In Wonderland

"

I find it hard to believe

That everything

Everything we did to achieve

Our so-called freedom

Would be washed away

I risk my life telling you this

But They have taken over this earth

A malevolent dictatorship that expands

The entire world as you sit there

Comfortable in your own home

While I hide in the streets

Take heed, dear receiver

As you sleep in your own bed

People plot and plan

To assassinate and eliminate

All those you hold dear.

I love the simplicity employed in this writing. It so vividly unfolds into a strong political message.

Eerie, and enjoyable since you make it specific enough to understand the fear of what may come "Our so-called freedom would be washed away", yet vague enough to make it open for interpretation. Who is it that will sleep in our beds? Who are They? It gives one pause. Nice write.
