At Least I Had Sunday Night

At Least I Had Sunday Night

A Poem by Daniel Fourie
"

Lyrics from my original alternative rock song : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2b7lPubtw94&feature=youtu.be

"
Verse 1:
Sunday night I arrived
So late, it must have been fate
Look around, sit down
Said ‘hey’, and I faded away

Verse 2:
Now I stare into black mist
The faded memories, on my knees
I just ask why?
Why did you lie?

Chorus:
Fell for your face, I’m a basket case
Your pretty eyes brought so many lies
I know I should have left,
but it was hard with my heart in your chest
Ceiling as my best friend
Why did it have to end?
Was going so well
Blink and burn like coal

Verse 3:
You’re slaying dragons - I think that’s cool
Even if others think it’s nerdy lame
So useless, I try to cry
Some days I just die

Verse 4:
Waited for you by the stairs,
too bad you didn’t care
Legs crossed, love is lost
Your brown straightened hair

Chorus

Interlude:
Got so much to say still to this day
The way you changed me
Is there serenity?

Chorus

End

Simple words. Yet the beauty of the lyrics lies in their simplicity. It's easy to relate to the words and imagine yourself in the position of the musician. Each line mentions a particular idea, yet that idea is merely suggested and not forced upon the listener, allowing him to relate to the song in his own way.
