dumber than soup

dumber than soup

A Poem by freelancejouster

leathered, melanomic skin and corn floss hair,

dirt encrusted clothing

save the immpecable fool's gold cross strung 'round her neck.

a kindly nature and working hands,

and a penchant for smoothing things over.

her patience tried

by years of intellect, science, and superhero tee-shirts,

by requests for uranium and various noble gases,

by taunts from the neighbor children,

by the "death ray" made in retaliation to those taunts

which only served to piss off the cat.

by a child who just won't listen

to the Word of the Lord.

her neighbors told her she was blessed,

but she sometimes wondered what sin it was

that she committed

that blessed her with this boy.

of course,

the lord never gives us anything we can't handle.

a bright white smile

crossed her chapped lips

as she gazed upon her younger children

who were,

thank heavens,

dumber than soup.

Sheldon's Mom inspired this. Thank your gods for Big Bang Theory.

I don't know Sheldon or his Mom! But, this is cool. And, so true in that cheeky way. The dumb ones are the blessings. It's those darn geniuses who can screw you up. lol! Powerful stuff. More than just a giggle when you analyze it from the proper angle. My kind of smart humor.

I do believe you should continue to develope this one. Make it a bit more suited for digestion, but, I get the point, and the point is a brilliant one.

Solid.

I love that show! You have aptly described her character so well. Very cool indeed.

you are what you eat....

the "boy" is a bit invisible here, just a tad, the subtle hints at his precocious intellect and difference from the rest of the family pack could be made even more deliberate, don't shy away from it.
This is a cool concept delivered in a wry subtle style. Nice work.
