Melody

Melody

A Poem by FreezingIris

A melody is playing

Right now it’s soft and soothing

A gentle caress of brass and wind

With a steady interlude from the drum

A triangle joins in at just the right moment

Depicting a warm summer day,

Breeze flowing, birds chirping

It’s perfect

The drum starts to pick up some

Clouds are rolling in on my day

The songs of the birds grow a little fainter

The triangle is becoming more scarce

The brass and wind are blowing more fiercely

Rain comes down in violent thumps from the drum

Birds stop all together

A hasty piano comes in, playing along the dark end

Wind is more prominent, forcing itself through

Like the flutter of leaves falling from the trees

Its pace is the fastest I’ve heard

The triangle no longer plays,

It couldn’t be heard over the drums, anyway

For now they are a march across my dreamland

My rain has turned to hail

My wind has turned to hurricane

And my gentle melody has turned cacophony
