From Pit to Pool

From self-pity and depression to hopefulness for the future, life can and should change in an instant.

It felt good to cry,
to exaggerate every singularity
in my mind,
to repetitively state
I was a victim of the world,
forgotten and abused,
but it wasn't true.

It feels better to laugh,
to dwell on the good,
find joy in the small things
that enliven my mood,
to keep my head up
towards the beauty of tomorrow,
dive headfirst, take the leap,
and drown all my sorrow.
