Trulli Enchantment~Alberobello

Trulli Enchantment~Alberobello

A Poem by Frieda P
"

Alberobello~Beautiful Tree

"

There is a special place that dreams are made of
this land of architectural jewels and heritage
that trips my minds flashes on full exhilaration
A place of ancient mysteries and stories untold
this province of pride and looming loyal legacy
out of the past a history that fascinates and enthralls
whimsical tales of epic proportions to behold

Perhaps it was the dancing air of this wonderland
prompting me to throw caution to  sweet zephyrs
Neolithic in age and spirit, holding secrets captive
Olive groves, vineyards, stone walled fields abound
symbols of magic spatter your rooftops radiant

A place of belonging and wanton pulsing starvation
less than three weeks yet a lifetime of memories
your homeland drew me in and you were the punctuation
fierce rapture with the sea as mystical background

How I never wanted it to end or have a beginning
breath taken wrapped in old elegance and simplicity
was it you or this place that made my pulse race
reality reared it's head and woke me from this dream

Memories still pulse through my veins like steaming lava
no regrets for this interlude of mysterious awakenings
under these domes sinners rejoiced in undulated rhythm
strange and picturesque destination fulfilling a dark void

Trulli a visit that woke the senses and freed my soul
twined together holding a place in my heart that lingers
secret interludes still nestled in these vapors of fantasmagorie
long ago in a place of carnal majesty a part of me still remains

Author's Note

Frieda P
This province is named Alberobello, which means beautiful tree in Italian.

On December 7th 1996, the UNESCO inserted the "Trulli of Alberobello" into the list of world wonders: "to be protected and preserved as unique and exceptional marks of a disappeared civilization and cultural tradition, offering an example of building techniques relative to a meaningful historical moment, constituting an example of human dwelling representative of a culture". Please enjoy!

Ah Frieda this is absolutely stunning - the magic in your words bring this piece to life in my room, if only I could be there in reality, sounds like heaven on earth, doll.

Just reading this it is obvious how much love you have for this place. The images and wording make it sound and look beautiful. I loved it.

Flip flops & all that jazz!

Ah, I was thinking of Tuscany at first, then Greece as I read through your poem. Reading your note, I now understand the reference and the intrigue.

"your homeland drew me in and you were the punctuation" beautiful statement.
There is a lot here, yet woven together nicely.

It's usually the reality check that brings about the most creativity though.

Wow, aren't you ambitious. I've never attempted a novel, I don't think I have the patience for it.
What an enchanted write to bring alive such a magical place! Your words awaken the beauty and wonders of ancient days... lives come and gone and yet somehow still present with us... Thank you for sharing! I do believe Italy may well have more UNESCO Heritage Sites than any other country...

this is beautifully worded and contains imagery of infinite proportions, yet your message is finite and pure. fantasy is reality and reality is but a dream...i find myself enamoured with this metaphorical masterpiece. i tripped the light fandango...turned cartwheels 'cross the floor and all in the comfort of my sitting room!

And in your blood these dreams flow through time, where ancestor kin breathe and live and toiled in the soil. Were blood is indeed thicker than water

Surely you went to Arcadia as shown in the work of Poisson. Only there would you have been so beguiled and possessed. But then we find such realms in the oddest of places, don't we? They can be told of as sylvan hills or rumpled sheets but we still went there, didn't we?
Okay, I'm impressed. Now what?

This feels like a most beautiful trip, walking around with guides where everyone is smiling and carrying cameras, forgetting to take the pictures of this beautiful "wonderland of architecture" that is seen. Reading that you have this connection to this place with a "carnal majesty" was just as mysterious as it was revealing. The poem leading up to this was felt like that dream that comes upon us, sometimes regularly, where it starts in a way that feels familiar, and then starts to change in the slightest but retains its beauty and the emotive response that drew us there in the first place. The words you chose to use, were ones I would use where "I" love to go.... up in the mountains with the waterfalls, rivers, and personal connection to nature. THAT always changes, but it never deviates from the reason why I LOVE it there. It was beautiful to take this walk/dream/hand with you in poem form. Just as we do in our youth where self-confidence is abundant and free, you being my guide through this place you hold dear was felt and protected like a warm hug, whilst building up this place of stone and span much better than an architect could explain!! That was fun..... you're gorgeous!! xoxo -Mark

I love the color of those walls and roofs you see in the picture posted. Reminds me of the views of Crete and Malta in the Mediterranean Sea!! xo

How beautiful Frieda, I enjoyed best these lines :Perhaps it was the dancing air of this wonderland
prompting me to throw caution to sweet zephyrs
Neolithic in age and spirit, holding secrets captive
Olive groves, vineyards, stone walled fields abound
symbols of magic spatter your rooftops radiant

Though all was truly perfect.
