Hardly Roses

Hardly Roses

A Poem by Frieda P

Rose petals...
      strewn upon the floorboards
falling through
         the cracks of abstruse
    lackluster like
            useless dirty dishwater,
thorns made their way
     to our medley,
esoteric attempts
    reaped no flower gardens,
obscure synonyms
     fester cryptic mind
 whilst staring at the ceiling
     of harsh reality,

'too little, too late...'

written on the tombstone
inscription upon the head
 of our shared bed

    I always did love wildflowers
               you see...

Can you believe it's taken me this damn long to get to this?? March 26?? O.O

I love the imagery in this, and anything in which the word abstruse appears is aces in my book ;-) That last line brought me to a pretty cool place, which was probably so not your intention...there was a movie, ages ago, with Harvey Kietel and Bridgette Fonda where they had to dispose of a body with acid and Fonda's character (who loved Nina Simone) said "I never did mind the little things..." God, what was that called? Something along the lines of the Cleaner, maybe? Meh, my memory sucks.

Anyway. Nice write.

a guy told me I smelled like roses today, :P I should have stuck my foot in his face, wildflowers rock, even if they ARE hell on allergies, this was wonderful Frieda, I personally like jasmine honeysuckle, sweet pea or daisies. :)

I so love that word panache, thanks John.
no dumber or more awkward feeling than when you send a woman a dozen long stemmed red roses and she has the gumption to tell you that she hates roses and would have been happy with a bouquet of inexpensive wildflowers. as for the poetry here, well, what can i say that i have not said before, other than you endear yourself to me with your words and i feel a longing to send you a big squishy hug across the miles. as always, frieda posies, you slay me with these writes.

"Too little..too late" is said so often when relationships end. Another great poem... always seems to come from a deep place within you. :-)
