Distraction~

Distraction~

A Poem by Frieda P

distractions

like high beams reflecting off snow
that thunderous clap on a sunny wedding day
the birds in early morn when you've not enough sleep
you distract me
like uninvited ants to a picnic basket
the bees to honey when you're enjoying tea
when time moves too quickly to catch a breather

you distract me

is it attraction, love or an itch to be scratched?
when I try to concentrate, you invade my mind
like a bulldozer tearing down old homes
replacing past memories with a new view

i wonder if I should take a chance on you

like a gypsy with no place to go
frost in the middle of july
poetry with no meaning
music with an off key haunting beat
the dark side of the moon...

you distract me

Oh yes, I feel the distraction... I know this all too well....

"you distract me

is it attraction, love or an itch to be scratched?

when I try to concentrate, you invade my mind

like a bulldozer tearing down old homes

replacing past memories with a new view"~ A Powerful, thunderous distraction can bulldoze any rational thought in process, indeed...

My darling, I adore your use of descriptive reliance on the reader to conjour your wording to the point of explosion, well done, great read.

Now you're trying to make me blush Thomas, thanks so much.
Frieda I bow at your feet. Such beautiful free verse with the deepest pathos. The poignancy of this is brilliant. It drips in the cum of poetry

Thanks jen, always appreciate a wowsers. :-)
This is one of my favorite poems I have read here. Love the form, love the flow, and completely love the smooth similes that flawlessly lead into one another. I can hear this piece set to music. More romantic, sweetly so - as if you don't mind the distraction so much. "Like a bulldozer tearing down old homes replacing past memories with a new view..." suggests that while the distraction is complete, it's nice to think about. Awesome poem, Frieda!

You made my day, and put a silly smile on my face, thanks jacob.
Ahhh....sweet sweet distraction from this hard and stress full world. Its a beautiful thing to have. And the distraction can be a mutual thing...filling two minds with thoughts of what might be. But yes most would pause to wonder what it means. Braver souls don't need answers they just revel in it. Love this one... ;-)

I'm reveling in your review Red, thanks! ;-)
I find some distractions annoying like a gnat that won't leave your face, but I also find some distractions beautiful, like when the phone rings in the middle of the night, waking you from a dream you are having of the one you love, and you find it is her on the line calling just because she misses you. It's times like these even the gnats can be enjoyable. Very nice Frieda. What is happening here, my poetry is becoming darker and yours...romantic??? I loved this.

I don't know Jack, I guess we need to change it up for our peace of mind....thanks so much. x
You will surely never know how it is going to be like until you give it a try. You are starving. You are distracted because you crave, are you just gonna stare on the food on your lap? Whilst we deliberate how to begin a thing, it grows too late to begin it. Nice thought and good flow. I especially liked the lines "is it attraction, love or an itch to be scratched?" && "like a gypsy with no place to go".

well, whoever this distraction may be, maybe it is a good thing that you can escape from those other "distractions" in your life that have been nothing less than detrimental. i think it is the first time i have seen you write such a hopeful and engaging piece since i have been reading and enjoying your incredible poetry. all the metaphors you used here are sleepy dreams, instead of terrifying nightmares...again, frieda posies, i love your precious heart. very sweet and , as usual, masterfully penned!

The only spelling mistake i could get was you need to capitalize July. I think that ios all picked up.

Have a great day.
