~Love me like a Japanese bowl...

~Love me like a Japanese bowl...

A Poem by Frieda P

If I dance for you, will you love me more
if I could give you moonbeams on a platter
you know I surely would
all I have to offer are some cracks filled with gold
melancholy rain afternoon's point of view
a painted canvas of oceans' blue
poetry that has withstood my test of time
if you take me 'as is' I promise you 'no lies'
A rollercoaster life of up & downs
but the high's will shine brilliantly lush
for your love accepts me unconditionally

“When the Japanese mend broken objects they aggrandize the damage by filling the cracks with gold, because they believe that when something’s suffered damage and has a history it becomes more beautiful.”

There's something precious about history, the way it wraps itself about near perfection and turns it into utter heaven. Same applies to human beings, complete with grey wrapping and sparse stuffing, because Man's weaknesses become examples of how to live and learn, to suffer and later, smile.

Dear friend, i think this is what you mean with your more than beautiful words.. and the lyrics. Perfection is created, not born. (You)

That's a beautiful concept, I never knew this about the Japanese but it's like valuing and treasuring the damaged, broken, weak and old. Such a good piece Frieda.

Thanks Kee, I agree, jazzed you enjoyed!
Enjoyed the comparisons to love. If we can't except our spouse unconditionally we are never truly excepting them at all.

Once you've latched on to someone who isn't bound to change you it is good to understand what a treasure you have unearthed. Hang on tightly lest he slips away. Your friend in words, Pete

Beautiful concept, from a beautiful culture, that seems at least at times, to value some of the more important things in life. Nicely done.

Those cracks are the most beautiful things... they are our humanity, kissed by the Universe... Your poem bears the beauty of the best of humanity - love. Your words are the gold that make imperfection lovely, Frieda...
