Treacherous beauty ~

Treacherous beauty ~

A Poem by Frieda P
"

sharing apart

"
She was a courtesan
   yet belonged to no man
as her mother before her,
   born into the trade
fatal beauty unsurpass'd
  pride had no respect
           for her name
   treachery part of the game
  alas, her heart was sav'd
       for her own desecration's discretion
in her mind, she had a choice
she danced til her last gasping breath
       without ever sharing asunder

Again with the big words, Mama F -- I adored this one, Mummy, you write so spectacularly and blow me away, it's a wonder I'm not in Jersey with you right now. This is such a deep write with very vivid imagery and the music is breathtakingly beautiful... I'm speechless, wow.

Flip flops & all that jazz! xo

I have read this poem earlier and hoped to have collected my words by the time I left a comment, but it keeps calling to me, so I at least have to say what a wonderful write this is! The essence behind the beauty is so often missed...sad really, brilliant words Frieda...the truest form of beauty, and you possess it so naturally.

Perhaps she did Avinash, thanks so much.
"Xishi (7th Century BC-6th Century BC) was so entrancingly beautiful that fish would forget to swim and sink down when she walks by.
Wang Zhaojun (1st Century BC) was so beautiful that her appearance would attract the flying wild goose to fall from the sky.
Diaochan (3rd Century AD) was so pretty that the moon itself would shy away in embarrassment when compared to her face.
Concubine Yang Yuhuan (719-756AD) could make blooming flowers feel ashamed. "

fascinating psychology in this ... i thought she was going to win for a moment ... tho "kept" she remained free in her own mind ... perhaps self delusion ..maybe not! that last line and especially "...sharing asunder" is so intriguing to me ... another wonderful poem Frieda .. really a good one!

Ha sounds fishy. ;-)
:) I like it very much ... could be dark subject matter, instead a lesson of acceptance and enjoying what life has to offer - whatever life that may be ... Great x x

Thanks Betty, jazz'd you enjoyed. ;-)
This romance with tones of danger and illicit companionship comes across so well. There a few who do romance so well.

Thanks so much Brittany!
A sad existence, beauty alone is lonely indeed... A well told tale, Frieda.
