Sombre indeed Freida...heart-wrenching...this is another blunt and unflinching piece, which you seem attracted to these days...this one really tore my heart out though, my hands are literally shaking as I try to type this...your writing is so intensely personal that these pieces in particular are affecting...I wish I had more to say...hopefully I'm just being my usual hyper-sensitive self, but if you are feeling like this poem suggests, you know you have my heart, and I'm always here...xo

Thats a very well written poem like always, one can totally feel for her reading it. Where does the blame lie, the sickness has spread deep and wide, in our hearts and the society at large. We fall to the lowest of the lowly..................
I love your poem Frieda, but you knew I would... you treat her with kindness, and compassion, with dignity and humanity. People say, bad choices as though choices are not conditioned by and based on the conditions they face and what they believe is possible. Your poem treats this woman (and many others)justly. Good for you Frieda....
Such a dismal tale speaking of the unsaid woes that some people must go through in order to feed their loved ones, and what dedication they have burning within them to be able to withstand that which they no longer want to do just to make sure they whom they love are safe and happy, hoping that they will be much better off than themselves. Though I do recognize that this sort of employment is pleasing to some, it can be devastating to others and you tell that side of the story with such blunt earnestness that my heart wrenches with sorrow just at the thought of it.
Here in Canada the government is trying to pass legislation to treat prostitution more like it is handled in the Scandinavian countries. This would criminalize the buying of sex, not the act, putting the crime on the johns.
There is a vocal movement saying this will endanger the sex workers, pushing it underground. They clamor to have prostitution recognized as a legitimate profession.
What the media, lawyers and social workers seem to be missing at the hearings that were going on just last week is current and former prostitutes are looking for support for a way out of the racket, not legitimization of it.
a moving and well written piece, thought provoking.

Thanks so much for your insight and kind review Noel.
Frieda, This one... IS... beautiful, but in a sad, knife-in-the-heart kind of way. The picture of the little lost girl just tears at my very soul... (was this a writing prompt? If so it was a good one... you captured her and then some...) Your words are straight forward--telling the story in a flow from cause to effect, but never losing the sadness... the regret... the pain of doing a thing you hate over and over. She is definitely, 'on destiny's back burner" I think you have done a superlative job with a subject, I think, few would try, or want to try and tackle. You were up to the task... great job!

geez, so many women who seem to get relegated to this type of life can blame their fathers...
i was with a person for several years who had suffered that kind of abuse...really shakes the trust in men...so sad because even those who are trustworthy aren't trusted...
Totally surreal, Your words were so powerful that I could feel her anguish.
There are too many untold stories such as this... Thank You for bringing
this one to life. Totally raw and totally real, the way that it's supposed
to be. Very well written and very powerful... Great writing.

Ah i love it when someone tells me they can 'feel' it, thanks so much for your kind words Luis.
If you want to know me, read my poetry, it's all in there. I am a mother of three sons (my finest moments) a sister, a survivor and a little bit crazy. I lost my beloved sister to suicide, so you'll.. more..
