How I've been feeling lately...

 As we walk down the empty streets

side by side,

I start to wonder why

you still like me.

You could leave at any minute,

you've got everything you need,

all the friends you could ever have

are now with you.

Yet,

you still waste your time

with me?

Why?

I've got nothing to offer,

you won't gain anything

from being with me.

So why are you

still here?

Why do you

still care about me?

Why do you still

protect me from bullies,

help me with homework

and stand by my side

everyday?

And even when we're with

other people,

and I feel like a third wheel,

you still say goodbye

when it's time for me to leave.

When you say stuff like that,

it's like you're reassuring me

that I'm still

your best friend.

Even though

I don't deserve to be.

I'm so quiet and shy, I sometimes feel like I'm holding the people I care about back...Like I'm keeping them from being happy, just because I'm friends with them. I feel so bad, but I still do it every day. I guess I'm just a selfish person....Anyways, have you ever heard the saying, "If you really love someone, than you'll set them free"? Maybe that's what I have to do...

Augh, what a horrible feeling. Have you ever talked to your friends about it? I'm sure they really do care about how you feel and what you have to say!
I don't understand why you think they waste their time when they're with you. :(

There are indeed times in life when tough choices like that fall onto our plate. I wish you the best in coming to the decisions that you feel are the best for you. Just remember, friendship is a two way street. Are you sure that you are in fact holding them back? Or perhaps they are holding themselves back? Things to ponder.
