Schrodinger's Cat

Schrodinger's Cat

A Poem by gabiaimee
"

I love paradoxes.

"
When I try to think of a paradox
I feel that I can find
nothing, something, and everything
all at once.

Like Schrodinger's cat in the box
neither dead or alive
as am I.

The existence of life,
the everything,
cannot exist without absence,
the nothing,
as black would not exist without white.

Each question,
each millisecond spent in the box
is something.
A million somethings have passed
since this thought was even introduced.

The words you read
each are something;
the entirety of the stanzas
is everything,
and this all
means absolutely nothing.

No, the meter is not consistent. Yes, it's supposed to be that way.

The wisest man who had everything also arrived at the same paradox - vanity. He searched and pondered the meaning and purpose of life by going up. While many of us who have been pierced by these thirst harm ourselves with unimaginable pain and sorrow by climbing the ladder of success. Another man whom much wiser than the first and the poorest by worldly standard found purpose and meaning in life by going down. He arrived at the same paradox - eternity.

very witty! i enjoyed it exceedingly. language is for communication, and this poem communicated to me a billion milliseconds of amusement, and a practically speaking useless thought, so really, you cant claim its nothing, maybe useless,(as most art is to the purely practical) but not nothing.

Ah existentialism! It's such an interesting topic to explore, and a difficult one to discuss in poetry. The last stanza is especially strong. It feels like "bam" right in the feels at the very end. Great job!
