My Mallard and Angel

My Mallard and Angel

A Poem by Gabrielle Esposito

My Mallard and Angel

Rise from your sleep my Tortured Angel

Give me your hand

I'll take your soul but not your body

Follow my, my child, to a place of salvation

On Earth, you were a Mallard

Constantly struggling to find your footing and stay afloat

Here you are an eagle

Flying high above the poachers who hunted you

Many times you have told your story

Yet no one listened or cared

Not once were you understood

Not once was an effort made to understand

So by your own hands you left them

For you believed it best

But what do I tell the people

Now that you are not around?

I can't tell them the truth

That they are the reason you decided not to stay

My Tortured Angel what do I say?

Never mind

I won't fuss

I'll simply say that you

My Mallard and Angel

Have flown away

I have rarely read a poem on this topic and i think it was absolutely worth reading....There is an angelic charm in it which makes it stand out, and there is a touch of sadness in the poem.....Very well balanced work dear future writer....Im grateful that i get to read your works.....Full ratings!!!!.....
