Remembered The Most

Remembered The Most

A Poem by Kenneth The Poet

at the point where Main meets Twenty-Sixth,
a little ways away from the state pen,
chicken, fries and gravy sells like hot cakes
and as the day draws to a close, the sun
sets appears to set in the nearby river
created the most excellent of optical illusions

and still, the radio prophets harp about
eternal death if acceptance of their version
of reality is not guaranteed lock, stock and barrel

of course, this version of reality is only
momentary, a long fart in a dust storm,

and now the almost toddler stares at the
animated zoo animals longingly, bouncing
her knees while on the balls of her feet,
and she goes after remote controls on
countertops as if they were dust bunnies
from the steppes of Outer Mongolia

damned or not, the momentary realities
are surely remembered the most

Author's Note

Kenneth The Poet
One of those times where the title couldn't be thought of so I went with the last few words of the piece.

That first paragraph is stellar. Man, I was THERE! now I'm hungry for chicken and fries.... and gravy...

writing pieces like this is like trying to pinpoint exactly when the seasons change... ya gotta be a wizard to do it. and you Ken are one heck of a wizard.

keep writin' stuff like this.
