Herpes

Herpes

A Poem by Kenneth The Poet

Valentine's Day should be shortened to V-D,
the abbreviation for venereal disease
because the day is a recurring infection
that won't go away
the herpes of holidays
so why celebrate it,
because nobody celebrates
a daily Valtrex regimen
then again
we celebrate the Kardashians
buying new underwear
so whatever goes,
goes I guess
so let me go to the bathroom
and scream out my frustration
as the golden liquid hits the
low bullseye in the commode

This is a powerful statement. The writing in stark and concise, no wasted words, every line meaningful.
This is very good.

Thanks, Ricochet. Good to see you.
Bahaha...oh this is satire at its best!! Love the smack in the face bluntness of this poem! The day isnt wine and roses for many people and I think youve penned their battle cry!! Fantastic!

Excellent take on this holiday; you are so right - we seem to become obsessed with the strangest, shallowest things...

Thank you so much!
Forced holidays never live up to their own press. I enjoyed your take on this pseudo holiday created by Hallmark:

the herpes of holidays

And this outbreak is always predictable right down to the day. This made me chuckle along with a wry smile.
