Wet Prisms

Wet Prisms

A Poem by Kenneth The Poet

light refracts in wet prisms
and it's a debate over what it means,
an eternal promise misinterpreted by
an energetic minority, which the symbol
itself is a misinterpretation of both
history and science

and the number of hours needed to
lose a limb trapped under a boulder
has passed and the edifice remains strong,
standing ever-present like electricity,
rocks and progressive taxation

count the days and years to come
and see if the edifice remains

it remained during the greats,
recession and depression alike

it remained during the freakout
from sixty-seven to seventy-two

it remained during the rise and fall
of presidencies, dynasties and maladies

watch the wet prisms fall
and refract that understanding
unto us all because sometimes
we need it, all of it
