Rainbow

Rainbow

A Poem by Kenneth The Poet

the battle feels endless
the parent and offspring
in a battle of wills
over ravioli at supper
over stories read at bedtime
over brushing teeth and taking baths
over the little things because
both of them think every instance
is Denali instead of a sidewalk anthill
but this is a connection forged through
more than just biology
it may be external to us
and beyond our comprehension
but after the instances pass,
the shared love returns and
they are both at ease once again
maybe that's the feeling
that should be endless
and not the idea of the
torrential childhood
because even biblical
torrents aren't eternal
there is a rainbow at the end
and we should be happy for that

Such connections hold the thread of love and where love rises beyond there is always a rainbow to gaze at, visually beautiful hon :)
