2017

A Poem by Kenneth The Poet

it's 2016 and it appears
the pachyderms are playing
games of contract bridge and
whist in small circles,
small circles where free time
and skin color similarity
are a dime per dozen

and the jackasses are
embroiled in an internal
battle of the genders
and where they live
left of center

back when the news distortionist
whined and complained about the
coming American ruination,
America herself was in a drug haze
but recovering from it and nowadays,
she's checked herself into rehab but
her recovery is probably mooted if
the main competitors for ship's captain
win outright

she could convulse her
into organ failure if a
civil war or something worse
occurs maybe

but that's speculation now
like that documentary was
speculation then

the whole truth of it all is this:
politics is a farce in bronze,
a shell game in stone,
a legacy cast in carbonite
and the doomsayers never
seem to be right no matter
how hard they try

fractally wrong was the distortionist
and fractally wrong was this poet

it's 2016 and we're still here and
2017 is looking to be the same way

Still feels that way all these months later. Thank you much.
Same agenda just a different year, perhaps and the game goes on and all sides are the same just different suits and claims and the years become unidentifiable because the masses focus on the distraction from reality :) Brilliant :)
