Change

Change

A Poem by Kenneth The Poet
"

A simple rant against the idea of change

"

Outside the bell curve

is the land of the outliers,

that is where I live,

that is where I call home,

that is where I choose to be,

because why must I conform,

must I follow the social norms

that everybody so easily follows

without query, without question?

At some point, Stalin's view

became the norm and he

promised change and I

don't trust anybody that

promises change of any kind

Unless, it comes in a sack

with a dollar sign and is

heavier than a sledgehammer

If that leader promises

that kind of change, I

can knock him over if

he fails to deliver on

another set of promises

Because the human condition

is constant, everlasting, the

shortcomings never cease

As Carlin once said, garbage in, garbage out

As Byrne once said, it's the same as it ever was

Empirical fact, based on repeated observation

Need more be said?

You have voiced what so many probably already feel. If they disagree it's because they have been drinking the Kool-Aid!

Conformity is the death of thought. It is the disease of the masses. It is garbage in, garbage out (I love Carlin by the way, I've seen him live twice), but it takes the want of the people to change. If we get to the point that we have to change, say because the environment goes to s**t, we already lost. The fringe is there far before the masses, but it takes the masses to get anything done. I think this is where we are in our generation. I'm not going into details because I'm not standing on a soapbox at the moment, but this was a very thought provoking piece.

Ken I love your intelligent metaphors and perfectly chosen words. Wonderful work. I too have given up on believing any promises from the "leaders" I don't even listen to their lies anymore!...

Ken,

Apparently more needs be said - at least every two but astoundingly MORE every four - years... ya know? And in-between they prep the way with silly notions like there ARE "Free Lunch"-es.

You said it all in this poem. I like the quotes. Time rebirth words that mean the same today as 30 years ago. A excellent poem.
