![]() NatureA Poem by Kenneth The Poet
The hawks mingle on the gravel,
possibly discussing the best places to feast on rodents in these wide, open spaces. Nature, red in tooth and claw, as Lord Tennyson once said. Two miles west stands the chain-link remnant of Cold War's past, the place where a malevolent force, the essence of universal creation, could murder millions upon presidential command. Through the windshield glass, nature's veneer is deceptive because it's just a fleeting sight. Three miles beyond the Cold War monument not acknowledged is a lone white monument named after the capital of Canada, a double-edged sword. How is he the God of Peace when worship of Baal and Asherah was subjected so badly, so totally? How is he the God of Love when his own words betray a hatred toward the fairer sex, and men acted on those words even after the Death and Resurrection? But, humans may be the crown jewel because of their ability to reason out a respect morality. Human beings can be peaceful, as can other creatures, and humans can be peaceful with other creatures. Nature may be red in tooth and claw, but only to a point. Equality exists as equilibrium. © 2011 Kenneth The PoetReviews
