Confirmation Bias

Confirmation Bias

A Poem by Kenneth The Poet

Back where he started,
the circle came around,
further confirmation bias
about how life has a tendency
to resemble a sine wave in
terms of experience,
and this district is a
self-made shithole
just like the last one
and the one before it,
all because humankind
has eternal tendencies
toward corruption,
apathy and anarchy,
so what else is new?

Same s**t, different day,
again and again,
b***h and moan,
whine and groan,
feeling lost and all alone,
no urge to grade,
no drive to teach,
just sit in a desk
and suck down liquid bleach,
and leave a note with a simple message,
the chemical symbol for iron but it's an
abbreviation that everybody with a
depressed mind know what it means,
and the sacrifice is accomplished
like Prometheus's liver being fed
to the great eagle, which is
greater than the three-hour
sin sacrifice that some dude
suffered on an addition sign
two thousand years ago,
which was pointless anyway
like human existence,
like the personality of
Marvin the Paranoid Android,
like Vogon poetry,
like the Earth and the Moon,
but we persist like the
viral fungus we are.

Confirmation bias indeed.

I like the ideas behind the piece, but at certain parts I was biased by the extreme realism. Isn't nilhism sort of like conforming and affirming to the current sociological context as being unalterable?

Wow...The bitter delivery made this piece stick to me. This piece did everything it could to not sugar coat the way society goes.

Nice

. powerful ... very powerful ... again, the way you weave in concepts is beyond spectacular ... i sometimes wonder about the "bias" ... and go so far as to think that even if we don't have wings ... words have wings ... one day maybe they'll take us where we need to go ... maybe ...

we cannot control who we are or who we become...if we think we do..we're lying to ourselves....

*how's that for a bit of happy?

Indeed! This one flowed like Muriatic Acid, relentlessly eating at the chocolate covered vanilla sensibility of the human Lemming.
Real effin' write, Kenneth.

Your words honest and true. You are a amazing person. Thank you for sharing your poetry. You need to have your words in a book for many to read. I like the desire and strength of this poem. I had to read the poem a few time to catch all the strong and direct statements. Thank you for the excellent poem.
