The Peaceful Trend

The Peaceful Trend

A Poem by Kenneth The Poet

I bite down hard on that stomach-turning humble pie

Just because sometimes it’s harder to choke down the rotten lie

Done in witness of the terrorist cell and the fourth estate

Grandstanding, egging them on, the demented loner and the police state

All because I voiced the simple truth about their lovely institutions

Violence is not a natural response and yet all of you make generous contributions

Everybody from the bully to the street gang, even the public employees always frustrated

It’s just better to turn your personal release valve so you come back rested, elated

But those punch cards that hold the antidote must have been shredded

Now violence, forever programmed in, the tendencies embedded

But it seems that we can coexist peacefully in social settings

This must be natural, pre-programmed, are we forgetting?

From the just-sullied halls on the ridge of blue to the red-soaked fields in the southeast jungles

Aversion to wholesale carnage brings up natural defenses, so these events are just mental bungles

Me and the peaceniks alike express these reactions

And the hate-filled expect, demand massive retractions

But we the peaceful refuse to bend to these stances

Because we know peace makes the successful advances

Margaret Mead spoke about how a committed few can change many things

That’s how it happened with the neo-cons in the land where freedom rings

But in Northern Ireland and other parts of the world

Many plans of change and paths towards peace have been unfurled

But the penchant toward violence tends to stay around

Even though many folks want it shot, stabbed and even drowned

But, we must fight it until the bitter, agonizing end

When the institution, the culture of violence adopts the peaceful trend

Kenneth The Poet
The rhyming is forced for sure.

The rhyming seems quite natural to me. The message is one that may force a bit of thinking about man's nature and warlike activities though.
