In The Back

In The Back

A Poem by Kenneth The Poet

Sat in the back, a newbie you see
investigating a new spirituality

One that accepts for who and what,
not some punch upside the gut

because one tends to the same side
religious dominance tends to deride

but why does that matter even at all,
they are only a few percent after all

and we don't know them from Jack
or Diane, from the front or the back,

they live around us, within our midst
why do they get their panties in a twist?

The twisted ones cheat and abuse
but they rather unjustly accuse

two loving people living in this life
causing untold amounts of strife

to the children of this fallen nation,
crashing down from a higher station.

A skeptic's mind has been put to ease
at least when it comes to culture's beats,

but he suffers the same internal angst,
the male side he is fighting against.

Discomforted he should not be,
their lives affect neither you or me.

But the s**t persists any which way
until we see our own end of days

We need to be openly reeducated
so the ignorance becomes sedated

He will return to sit in the back
until his view turns totally black

"we don't know them from Jack

is that a john cougar melloncamp refference? or am i just too old? heh

i like this. you may not realize this, or maybe you do, but i see/feel an individual vioce in your work, which to me is the most prized element of poetry and writing. your work is you, uncomprimised, an honest voice. for some writers thats the hardest thing to achieve, and some never do. but i don't think you need to worry about that.

and i agree, at sopme point society has to move beyond fear, even move beyond tolerance, will have to accept the world for what it is, people for what they are, whether we agree or not, whether we like it or not. very well said
