Fourteen Days

Fourteen Days

A Poem by Kenneth The Poet

Mother the shade of royal
curled up with the child in
the throes of kitten calls
and sights shaded in
polar opposition,

while the father echoes prose
from Keenan as thoughts of
baby-back ribs go through his
intellect because even satire
has its moments of placement,

yet as she cries and hiccups
the parents look on with awe
and love because fourteen days
is a milestone in their eyes,

one day closer to discharge,

one day closer to coming home
and all the vital signs are pointing
toward that conclusion
