Jim

All I have are recollections of a young man,

His smile, his laughter, his personality - all just a memory,

Thirty years have gone by,

Yet it seems like only yesterday, it happened.

He never had a chance to grow up,

He was barely nineteen,

Only Heaven really knows why,

Why he was taken and that no-one had a chance to say goodbye.

Screeching tires, shattered glass, and twisted metal,

Was the horrific scene that fateful night,

They pull out two bodies one by one,

How could a life be stolen so quickly?

For his friends, family, and even his fiancé,

Things were never the same again,

Time could never be turned back,

As life changes in the blink of an eye,

Everything he did, everything he was, will still be my memory of Jim....

That was touching and sad. It was nice of you to write this about your friend.

Thank you... I wrote about him several years ago and got the original posted in a book and was able .. read more
I think it's important to recognize those who're no longer here. Some, we may think of every day, while others are less frequent, but bringing them back to the light shows great honor and love. To be gone and forgotten is sad indeed. Like this James, I remember buddies lost in car wrecks, Vietnam and other causes. Why their names get called, I'll never know.

Thank you, I only knew Jim for a brief summer moment but he is still in memory and alive.
