Rules

Rules

A Chapter by goltinfron_nh

Until you are label Communist,
You really don't understand what it is to 'break' rules.

Rules.
What is a rule?
It is a self imposed-
Law dictated -
Society accepted behavior base.

I accept certain rules.
We all must.
Even anarchist accept rules - even if there is none.

All I did was refuse, stand still, mouth shut -
In protest, I refused,
'To pledge my allegiance'
To a Flag I believe in, soldiers I thank every day,
but refuse to pledge to a government
Who believes in rules...

Thus, the day I choose to flex the rules,
To play within the bounds of
'Certain inalienable rights',
My Teacher calls me 'Communist'.

I agree with that you Commy! I pledge my allegiance to my Creator, to my family and to my friends. I pay taxes to my government and they should be right happy I do that. Our government was established to help and protect us...after being founded IT decided it was going to protect the rich and wealthy interests. So :P !!!

Thank the soldiers for their sacrifices, then kick the politicians in their balls for sending them where they don't need to be and tell them to pledge to that!

oh yeah, and great job with the poem! :)

Yikes.

I am a big fan of rules, myself, so this poem especially hit home, because of their many paradoxes. Especially in this land of the free--so curiously maintained by a great number of restrictions. And the pledge is increasingly controversial... although most people say it mindlessly, incognizant the repetitious words they spew from their ignorant mouths.

Anyway, obviously this poem stirred up some resentment in me, which is exactly what poetry is meant to do--bring the forefront emotions we all-to-often leave alone backstage. Well done.
